What forms of payment do you accept?
We can accept Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Debit/Check Cards with the Visa or Mastercard logo. We are unable to accept checks or American Express Cards.
We do not accept credit cards by phone for items being purchased in our store.
What is your Return or Exchange Policy?
We offer Exchanges only on most items, NO RETURNS. Exchanges must be made within 10 business days from the date on your cash register receipt.
You must have your original itemized cash register receipt to make an exchange. Items must be in the same condition as when they were purchased to be exchanged. Unaltered, unworn, with all tags and/or packaging intact.
All dresses being exchanged will be inspected and are subject to Management Approval. For a dress to be accepted for exchange the dress must be unworn and unaltered, with all hang tags and labels in their original positions. Dresses must not be damaged, soiled, stained, torn, and must be free of offensive odors (i.e. smoke). Please be aware that the number one reason for us rejecting an exchange is cigarette smoke, and most often the person buying the dress does not even realize that they've put the dress in a smoking environment.
Jewelry cannot be exchanged.
What is your Hold Policy?
Dress Hold Policy:
A maximum of 1 dress may be held per person for 2 days from the date requested. A non-refundable hold charge of $20 plus tax will apply. At the end of 2 days if the dress is not purchased it will be placed on the rack and the total amount given to hold dresses will be forfeited by the customer. If within 2 days a dress is purchased the total of the hold charge will go towards the purchase total.
Do I need to make an Appointment?
At this time we do not take appointments. Please allow yourself plenty of time to shop as we carry a very large inventory of Tuxedos and Accessories plus thousands of Prom, Pageant and Formal Evening Dresses.
The amount of time you require depends on your interest in browsing. We have a knowledgeable staff to assist you. Keep in mind that Saturdays are generally our busiest day and you may need to allow a little more time especially during our peak season in the Spring.
When shopping for a Tuxedo we recommend you arrive at least 45 minutes or more before closing time to avoid feeling rushed.
What is your Policy regarding Children in your store?
All Children must be supervised by an Adult at all times while shopping with us.
We do offer Tuxedos for children as small as a size 3 and encourage you to shop with your children for a tuxedo.
If you are shopping for formal gowns, please be aware that we do not have gowns for young children such as flower girls or toddler pageants. In an effort to prevent damage to the delicate formal dresses we ask that young children, especially those needing a stroller, remain with an adult in the seating area at the front of our store at all times.
Do you offer Alteration Services?
We do not offer alterations at this time. For local customers we recommend Lee's Tailors at Southpoint Mall in Durham, NC.
How far in advance should I purchase my Tuxedo?
We carry thousands of Tuxedo Jackets plus Pants, Shirts and Accessories in stock at all times. You are able to try on, purchase and take home a Tuxedo from our in stock inventory on the day you shop. However, because we do not offer alterations services on-site we recommend purchasing your Tuxedo one week or more before the date you will wear it. This will allow time to have it altered, pressed or drycleaned if you feel it is necessary.
We can also be your last minute tuxedo shop! In many cases we do sell tuxedos that are often worn later the same day.
Why are your Tuxedos so affordable?
A majority of the Tuxedos and accessories that we sell are previously from rental stock and in excellent condition. We buy tuxedos and accessories from Tuxedo Rental companies all over the US. These items are of the same excellent quality and similar brands and styles that you can find at your local rental shop. We suppliment our inventory with new items purchased directly from the Tuxedo Manufacturers to offer you the best selection. At Formalwear Outlet you can own a complete tuxedo for just $99 - less than the cost of one Rental.
We offer many black classic style 100% wool tuxedos in addition to more modern and trendy styles and colors.
Can I rent a Tuxedo at Formalwear Outlet?
We sell Tuxedos that you can purchase for just $99 - less than the cost of a rental elsewhere. We do not offer Rentals.
Do you special order dresses?
We do not special order dresses. We offer thousands of Prom, Pageant and Formal Evening Dresses in stock starting at just $99 each with no dress priced more than $225. We offer many of the same New Designer Dresses that you can find in other stores for $350-$700.
Can you tell me if you have a specific dress in stock?
We offer many dresses that are not pictured on our website. If you do see a dress pictured on our website please be aware we may not have it in every size.
The only way to check our full selection is to come in to the store, especially during Prom Season when inventory is constantly changing.
We stock thousands of dresses. It is difficult to check inventory if you call to find out availability of a specific style or size, particularly on a busy weekend.
How often do you receive dress shipments?
There is not a specific schedule that we receive shipments of new dresses.
We get shipments much more frequently November - early February as we prepare for Prom Season.
Do you register Dresses?
We do register dresses for Proms. Any school not currently registered will be added to our registration book at the time of purchase.
We register dresses so that we can tell you if another young lady has already purchased the dress you have chosen to wear for the same prom. Most young ladies would never want to wear the same dress as someone else at their prom, but please be aware we will never refuse to sell a dress even if it is for the same prom (unless the dress was purchased by an employee and the young lady would be attending the same prom as our employee).
