Thank you for popping by FormalwearOutlet.com and our new Blog!

First an introduction and a little bit of history. Formalwear Outlet in Hillsborough is a family owned and operated business offering the largest selection of Men’s and Women’s Formal Attire in the Carolinas. Siblings Matt Pinkston and Elizabeth Sawyer manage the day to day operations of the company their father started over 40 years ago.

Formalwear Outlet opened in Daniel Boone Village in Hillsborough in the fall of 1998. As word got out about our tuxedo specials and the business grew we knew that we needed a new location with more room to grow. We moved to our current location at 415 Millstone Drive in Hillsborough in January 2003. In the Fall of 2004 we saw a need for affordable Formal Dresses, just as there was a need for affordable tuxedos. We expanded our selections to include fabulous New Prom & Evening Dresses from top American Designers for prices far less than the Mall Boutiques were selling the same gorgeous dresses.

Over the last 20+ years we have become a destination location for prom shoppers and wedding couples throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. We also serve fraternal organizations including Masons, Shriners and the Knights of Columbus, a number of bands & entertainers, high school bands and choruses throughout the Southeast, photography studios, local and regional theater companies and even a hit TV show on the CW has been known to buy from us on occasion. We are best known for offering affordable formal attire, including classic and traditional styles to what is current and on trend. We pride ourselves on offering quality clothing and accessories at more affordable prices with more personalized service that you can really only get from shopping with a small business. We feel blessed for all the love and support over the years and that this has kept you all coming back to us for your formal occasions for over 20 years.
