Formalwear Outlet is a Family-Owned Business

Formalwear Outlet in Hillsborough is a family owned and operated business offering the largest selection of Men’s and Women’s Formal Attire in the Carolinas. Siblings Matt Pinkston and Elizabeth Sawyer manage the day to day operations of the company their father started over 40 years ago.

Formalwear Outlet opened in Daniel Boone Village in Hillsborough in the fall of 1998. As word got out about our affordable formal wear and tuxedo specials the business continued to grow. We knew that we needed more space to continue serving our growing customer base. We moved to our current location at 415 Millstone Drive in Hillsborough in January 2003.

In the Fall of 2004 we saw a need for affordable Formal Dresses, just as there was a need for affordable tuxedos. We expanded our selections to include New Prom & Evening Dresses from top American Designers for prices far less than the Mall Boutiques were selling the same gorgeous dresses. 
Over the last 20+ years we have become a destination location for prom shoppers and wedding couples throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
